Paula S. Crum, DDS, MS
As a high school student, I had a wonderful young dentist who was a huge influence in my choosing a career in dentistry. I went to Marquette University to become a dental hygienist and loved working with patients so much that I decided to enter dental school, and ultimately, I became a periodontist. I truly love what I do; I am devoted to treating my patients with skill and kindness, and it is rewarding to see them become periodontally healthy and at the same time, comfortable with our practice.
My greatest pleasure comes from providing patients who are fearful and anxious about treatment, with the therapy that they need in a compassionate and caring manner. Patients are often pleasantly surprised at how comfortable periodontal treatment can be. Some of our most fearful patients have become our greatest ambassadors and it is very gratifying for me to bring them to such a comfortable level that they will refer family, friends, and co-workers.

Outside the Office
I grew up in Plainfield, a small farming community in Central Wisconsin, and now reside in Ashwaubenon. My son, Phillip, recently graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree, graduating Magna cum Laude. He is now doing his Periodontal Residency at LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans and plans to join me in practice in the summer of 2019. My daughter, Olivia, recently graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. She received her degree in Strategic Communications with a minor in Digital Media, graduating cum Laude. She currently lives in Indianapolis, working in a marketing and advertising agency.
I am passionate about my sports teams, including the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Marquette, Butler and North Carolina basketball. When I am home, my TV will usually have a game on. I love to attend sporting events and I also enjoy traveling, singing, reading, playing fantasy football and dining out with family and friends. But my biggest passion is for my two children. They are truly a blessing in my life. They have grown into responsible and compassionate young adults. They have done extremely well in school and have countless friends. I am very proud of what they have already accomplished, and I can’t wait to see all that the future holds for them.
In the Community
I feel it is important to give back to the community through volunteerism; you always meet such wonderful people that you may not get to know in any other way! I am very involved in my church. I am a song leader, chairperson of the Silent Auction portion of our church picnic and a member of the Worship Commission. I have always volunteered my time for school activities and even after my children have graduated, I am still involved in the Destination Imagination district and state tournaments as a scoring appraiser. I also serve as chairperson for the Ashwaubenon Education Foundation
I have volunteered for many years doing Head Start dental exams for the Ashwaubenon School District and I also do dental screening exams for the NEW Dental Clinic for low income, uninsured individuals. I have been involved in several of Wisconsin’s Mission of Mercy events, providing dental treatment over a two-day period for hundreds of underserved individuals. All of these opportunities allow me to help make a difference in the lives of people who otherwise may not receive dental care. It is personally very rewarding to see the positive changes that we can make in the oral health of people in our state and local community.
